Apple verifies software that is distributed through its App store subscription members. To get your Mac to verify a software program that isn't from the App Store, you need to use the "Open Anyway" button in the Privacy & Security settings, after which the app will be saved as an exception and can be opened in the future.
Here's a step-by-step guide:
1. Open Privacy & Security Settings:
-
Click the Apple menu in the top left corner of your screen.
-
Click "System Settings".
-
Click "Privacy & Security" in the sidebar.
2. Allow the App:
-
Go to the "Security" section.
-
You should see the app you tried to open listed with a message stating that it can't be verified.
-
Click the "Open Anyway" button.
-
Enter your login password, then click "OK".
3. Future Openings:
-
The app is now saved as an exception to your security settings.
-
You can open it in the future by double-clicking it, just as you can any authorized app.
